Technology and Innovation Futurist | Scaling Global Businesses | Promoting Global Diversity
Adam Nanjee is building Canada to be the next global technology leader. As the former Head of North America’s largest innovations hub at MaRS Discovery District and currently as Senior Vice President for Zafin, one of North America’s top financial technology companies, Nanjee has experience in the technology sector like few others. His areas of expertise include financial technology, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. He brings his considerable background and expertise to all his talks, speaking on the future of financial technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship, and infusing his presentations with the forward-looking approach he’s known for.
Adam founded and built Canada’s first dedicated financial technology and innovations vertical at MaRS Discovery District with over 300 startups, 20 national corporate partners and 60 venture capital partners. MaRS FinTech has provided the innovations community in Canada — and around the world — with a centralized landing place to connect global financial institutions, FinTech entrepreneurs, and MaRS’s network of domestic and international venture capital partners.
In addition, Adam led MaRS’s international growth strategy by building strategic commercial partnerships with global innovation centres. He was a key member of Toronto Mayor John Tory’s economic development team in Hong Kong, and a key member of Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne’s team for the advancement of Ontario’s economic international agenda as well.
As Zafin’s Senior Vice President of Digital Banking, Adam is responsible for the company’s digital banking platforms. Zafin has won numerous awards as a top global tech company, including Deliote’s top 50 tech companies, for three consecutive years; and was named one of American Banker’s top FinTech companies to watch.
Prior to working with Zafin and MaRS, Nanjee served as the vice-president of business development and emerging payments at MasterCard Worldwide, where he was responsible for the company’s strategy and partnerships in digital payments. Before working with MasterCard, Nanjee was the global head of e-commerce and social networking partnerships at BlackBerry, where he and his team were responsible for the overall strategic partnerships with companies such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Amazon, and eBay.
He holds a master’s degree in business administration from Wilfrid Laurier University, and an honours engineering degree in computer and systems engineering from the University of Guelph.
