As CEO of Harbour Air, Noth America's largest seaplane airline, Bert leads a team on a mission to make travel more sustainable and accessible within British Columbia and to and from Seattle. Operating over 300 carbon-neutral flights daily, Harbour Air made history in 2019 by becoming the world's first airline to fly an electric plane. Since then, the company has been at the forefront of testing and developing battery-powered propulsion. Bert joined Harbour Air in October 2022, coming from WestJest Group with responsibility for its low-cost airline, Swoop. Hailing from the Netherlands, Bert began his aviation career as a management trainee at Lufthansa in Germany. He has over 20 years of experience in air transportation, having worked in various executive roles and as a consultant in Asia, Europe, Africa, and Middle East, specializing in airline start-ups and transformations. With a wealth of experience gained from working on all but one of the seven continents, Bert is well-equipped to lead the charge towards a more sustainable future travel.
