Pomeroy Lodging LP

Bob Pomeroy, Chairman of Pomeroy Lodging, has over 30 years of experience in hotel operations, development and construction as both an owner and operator in the hotel and hospitality industry.

Bob began his hospitality journey in 1983 as the General Manager of the Holiday Inn in Fort St John B.C. He quickly got to work renovating the hotel rooms and the night club, turning it into the Corral, and created a very successful restaurant called Mr. P’s. His efforts turned the Pioneer Inn into a true downtown destination.

Bob purchased his first hotel, the Igloo Inn, in Grande Prairie, Alberta in 1994. The goal at the time was to have 10 hotels within 10 years. Seeing a great opportunity to differentiate himself in the industry, he pioneered the first continental breakfast and sharing of market intelligence with his competitors.  In 2004, Bob established Pomeroy Inn & Suites Inc. and opened his first extended stay hotel, Pomeroy Inn & Suites in Grande Prairie. Since then he has been the recipient of several prestigious awards such as the Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG) Developer of the Year, IHG property Quality Award and the Wyndham hotel Group Top Quality and Overall Performance Award.

During his career and under his leadership the company has owned and operated over 65 businesses, with $250 million in new construction and been a part of several large hospitality transactions including capital restructuring with Manulife Financial, and one of the largest limited service hotel sales in Canadian history, in which ten hotels were sold for the value of 215 million dollars, in 2007.

Bob grew his business the old fashioned way, from the ground up and he believes in the vast opportunities still available in Canada. Today thirteen of Pomeroy Lodging’s eighteen properties carry Pomeroy brands and employ over 1000 people in 10 different cities. His life is a testament to hard work and perseverance.
