History

Realstar Hospitality is a subsidiary of Realstar Group, a dynamic and privately owned real estate investment and management company with over $9 billion in assets. Their focus on rental residential, hospitality and alternative asset classes is unmatched in the industry.


Founded in 1974 by Jonas Prince and Wayne Squibb, Realstar was created to provide high-quality, affordable homes for rent in Canada. Since then, Realstar has grown into one of the largest private owner-operators of rental properties in Canada, with over 25,000 units across the country. Their success in the rental housing sector has led them to expand into several ventures in the hospitality industry, not just in Canada but also in Asia, the US, and the Caribbean.


In 2002, Ryan Prince established Realstar's UK operation, and the company has since acquired and developed over £3B of assets. The company recently created UNCLE, a brand new rental housing concept rated #1 on Trust Pilot in the UK. UNCLE's mission is to provide 'renting as it should be,' and since its launch in 2017, it has opened 11 locations in London, Leeds, and Manchester, with plans to double in size over the next 3-5 years through its joint venture with QuadReal.

Studio 6

The first Studio 6 opened in El Paso, TX, in 1998 with the transformation of an existing Motel 6 into an extended-stay concept. Studio 6 properties allow guests to stay in the comforts of home while enjoying an inclusive rate, competitive to the economy extended-stay tier.


The Studio 6 prototype features a contemporary, simple and functional design that is a major step forward for extended-stay lodging. The studios are approximately 260-320 square feet featuring an open floor plan.


All locations offer an updated modern room layout featuring a comfortable seating area, sleeping area and fully furnished kitchen with refrigerator, microwave, cooktop stove and cookware. The brand looks similar to a Motel 6 (think wood effect flooring, granite countertops, flat panel TVs, and a chic design and colour scheme).
